INGREDIENTS

PASTRY:

  • 200g Butter

  • 400g Plain Flour

  • 2 tablespoons Caster Sugar

  • 2 Eggs

  • 2 tablespoons of ice cold water

FILLING:

  • 1 Granny Smith Apple - finely chopped

  • 410g jar of Fruit Mince (Robertsons recommended)

TO SERVE:

  • Icing sugar

METHOD

  1. Using your Smeg mixer with paddle, mix flour and butter until they resemble breadcrumbs.

  2. Add sugar to the mixture.

  3. Add the eggs and cold water and mix until it forms into dough.

  4. Chill pastry in fridge.

  5. Mix the apple and fruit mince together in a bowl.

  6. Preheat the oven using Fan Assist function to 190⁰C.

  7. Once chilled, roll out the pastry into circles and stars - 36 of each.

  8. Place circles in greased and floured patty tins. Put a spoonful of filling inside, cover with a star, and add egg wash over the top.

  9. Place the tray in your multifunction Smeg oven on shelf two, and allow to bake for about 15 minutes - until the pastry is golden brown.

  10. Remove tarts from the oven and place onto a cake rack to cool.

  11. Sprinkle with icing sugar to serve.
